Senior Technical Advisor Adora Iris Lee talks about IRD’s involvement in the 2012 International AIDS Conference.
IRD knows that community health and wellbeing — including the health of those affected by HIV/AIDS — depend on a variety of interrelated needs. Access to prevention information, medicine, and care is essential, but so are nutrition, clean water, sanitation, and education. Communities also need more productive agricultural systems, reliable roads and communications, and a strong voice in how they are governed. IRD’s holistic, community-centered approach to HIV/AIDS is saving lives and building livelihoods.
In addition to participating in the AIDS conference, IRD is sponsoring a portion of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, which will be on display July 16–22 at our offices in Arlington, Virginia.
